The cover of this style extend over less than two-thirds the depth of the body, distinguishing it from the partial-telescope styles. The half-slotted box frequently uses a design-style cover, because it is easier to close the smaller side flaps. These boxes are frequently used for both shipping and shelf storage, or other applications where the cover must be removed and replaced frequently.

A single cut and scored piece features a fifth panel used as a closing flap, completely covering a side panel. The closed box has several thicknesses in each end, providing stacking strength and proection for long articles of small diameter which might be damaged, or damage the box, if pushed through the ends.

Regular Slotted Carton (RSC)

All flaps are the same depth, and the two outer flaps (normally the lengthwise flaps) are one-half the container’s width, so that they meet at the enter of the box when folded. This is highly efficient design. The only overflaps are the flap for a glued or stitched manufacture’s joint, and the inner (or minor) flaps. There is a very little manufacturing waste. The RSC can be used for most products, and is the most common box style. If the product requires a flat, even bottom surface, or the protection of two full layers, a fill-in pad can be placed between the two inner flaps.

Padding Carton

Ideal for layers and creating separation of product. Used for cushioning and adding protection by creating the best fit inside the box. Pads are plain shapes of corrugated or solid fiberboard. They can be used to fill the space between the inner flaps of an RSC, to completely cover the bottom or top of a box, or to separate layers of product. Vertically, they can be used to separate products or add stacking strength.

Overlap Slotted Carton (OSC)


Overlap Slotted Carton or OSC in short, is a type of carton that widely use in a furniture industries. All it flaps are same in depth & their depth is equal to the width of the carton. When closed, the outer flaps come within one inch of a complete overlap. This style is especially resistant to rough handling. Stacked on its bottom panel, the overlapping flaps provides added cushioning. Stacked on its side, the extra tickness provides stacking strength.
